Star Sighting

Yesterday I was at the Birkenstock store here in Sherman Oaks to try and replace my nearly dead pair of beloved sandals. While there, Bradley Whitford (the actor who plays Josh Lyman on the West Wing) was there with his daughters.

Melody noticed him. As usual, I did not.

I never seem to notice famous people. Even when pointed out, I generally have no idea who they are, and certainly wouldn't know their name. I only know this guys name because I looked him up. And I only recognized him once directly pointed out to me by Melody because he is on a show I currently watch. But generally, unless it is an obscure sci-fi actor (who I usually will actually recognize, because I am that kind of geek), I could be standing next to Brad Pitt and would have no clue.

Michael Chiklis, the lead actor from the TV show The Shield (currently playing the Thing in the Fantastic Four), gets coffee in our neighborhood. It once took maybe 3 times of Melody telling me who he was before I figured it out. And that is for someone whose acting and show I like.

Anyway, the only thing I found actually noteworthy about this encounter with Mr. Whitford was his daughter, a toddler around 4ish apparently named Lulu. She said to her dad, in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear "Daddy, when are we leaving, I have to go poo now." Dad shushed her in embarassment.

Kids are cool...
