Following up on my earlier mention of TV ratings for some of the new shows we are watching (and some we have not watched but are willing to give a try). We are trying to get some comedies in there, as a break from all the drama sci-fi stuff is pleasant. Here is what I have found:
-Commander in Chief (ABC, Tues. 9 p.m.): week two
Viewers: 16.94 million (#8), A18-49: 4.8/12 (#13t)
Comment: Probably going to be picked up for the season. I've seen the first episode, and cannot personally help but compare it to the West Wing (and the West Wing wins that comparison hands down). I will give it a few more episodes though.
-My Name Is Earl (NBC, Tues. 9 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 13.23 million (#18), A18-49: 6.0/15 (#11t)
Comment: Going to make it. I have not seen this show, but I think our Tivo has an episode, and we have a DVD from a magazine of the pilot.
-Invasion (ABC, Wed. 10 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 11.38 million (#28), A18-49: 4.4/11 (#22t)
Comment: Ratings are erroding with time. On the cusp. I like this show, but not as much as Threshold and Surface.
-Ghost Whisperer (CBS, Fri. 8 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 11.07 million (#32), A18-49: 3.0/10 (#42t)
Comment: Already picked up for the season. Fairly strong ratings. I am bitter that this show replaced Joan of Arcadia, and think it is a cheap knock-off of Medium.
-How I Met Your Mother (CBS, Mon. 8:30 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 10.44 million (#33), A18-49: 3.9/10 (#27t)
Comment: Probably going to make it. By the way, if you have not tried this show, and are willing to give a sitcom a shot, give it a watch. I think it is pretty good. Neal Patrick Harris (Doogy Houser) is very funny in this show.
-Surface (NBC, Mon. 8 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 9.50 million (#38), A18-49: 3.0/ 8 (#42t)
Comment: On the cusp. I like it a lot, and hope it makes it.
-E-Ring (NBC, Wed. 8 p.m.): week three (time period debut)
Viewers: 8.51 million (#45), A18-49: 2.5/ 7 (#56t)
Comment: Probably not going to make it. I have not seen this show.
-Threshold (CBS, Fri. 9 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 8.25 million (#49), A18-49: 2.4/ 7 (#60t)
Comment: On the cusp, but lead-in from Ghost Whisperer seems to indicate the show may make it. I personally like it a lot.
-Everybody Hates Chris (UPN, Thurs. 8 p.m.): week three
Viewers: 5.96 million (#72t), A18-49: 2.2/ 6 (#68t)
Comment: Already renewed for season I believe. Very strong ratings. I have not seen this show, but am willing to give it a try as the ads look funny.
-The Night Stalker (ABC, Thurs. 9 p.m.): week two
Viewers: 5.92 million (#74), A18-49: 2.2/ 5 (#68t)
Comment: Probably not going to make it. Too bad. I watch this show and think it's worthwhile. But, I suppose with all the competition, it is one of the weaker shows of this genre.
-Supernatural (WB, Tues. 9 p.m.): week four
Viewers: 5.40 million (#79), A18-49: 2.4/ 6 (#60t)
Comment: Already picked up. Pretty strong ratings. I like this show.
-Twins (WB, Fri. 8:30 p.m.): week four
Viewers: 2.47 million (#111), A18-49: 1.0/ 3 (#108t)
Comment: Probably not going to make it. Too bad, I found this show funny.
By the way, a note on non-new series. It looks like Alias is suddenly hurting in the ratings, as is The Office.

Elizabethtown is a great movie. I'll say that again, to make sure it's not a comment affiliated with a more generalized "I liked that" kind of comment. Elizabethtown is a great movie. One of those rare movies where I was not just smiling at the end, but smiling all the way through. Where I was aware I was watching something great while actually watching it.
I have no idea if it will do well in the box office, or if critics will like it, or even if my friends will like it. But, I thought it was great, and I encourage you to see it.
