Melody and I saw The New World tonight. I thought it was a fine film. Very quiet, with beautiful scenes, music, and people. Lot's of nonverbal communication. The actor who played Pocahontas (Q'Orianka Kilcher) was quite good. She reminded me of my friend Jessica in a few ways. Colin Farrell (John Smith) was also quite good, as well as the rest of the supporting cast.

A BBC reviewer put it well: "...liberally mixed with static shots of nature; babbling brooks, windswept grass and so on. The editing of these images is so strange - seductive and elliptic, and completely unlike the grammar of everyday movies - that it feels like listening to poetry in another language."
